Footnotes

Rolex introduced reference 5513 in 1962 and continued its production until the mid-1980s. The model is instantly recognizable for its absence of a date window, which lends the dial a clean and harmonious balance. Early examples were fitted with glossy black dials bearing gilt lettering, while by the mid-1960s Rolex transitioned to matte dials with white printing. These versions initially displayed the depth rating with meters first, marked "200m = 660ft," before switching to the feet-first configuration toward the late 1960s. Celebrated among vintage Rolex collectors, the matte-dial 5513 is admired for its symmetry, robust construction, and historical significance as a blueprint for future Submariner designs.
