The Cartier Tortue was introduced in 1912 as one of the brand's first non-circular shaped watches. Its tonneau-shaped case stands out for its subtle balance between curves and straight lines. It also incorporates codes and references specific to the brand's watch designs, such as Roman numeral hour markers, outer or inner minute track, and blued steel sword hands. It is often equipped with high-precision mechanical movements, for some of them developed in collaboration with renowned Swiss manufactures. The present Lot features a Frédéric Piguet calibre, a manufacturer that has been supplying the watchmaking industry since 1858.
