AN IRON EBOSHINARI KABUTO ('COURT CAP-SHAPED ' HELMET)
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century
Constructed of four vertical plates riveted together with central standing ridge and banded together by a wide koshimaki and mabizashi, the helmet fitted with a three-lame shikoro laced in blue and green, the front of the bowl adorned with a gilt-brass maedate formed as a disc supported by stylized horns, pierced with the character Ri
