Historical context
This historic photograph, taken by Pete Conrad while he was briefly alone on the lunar surface awaiting Alan Bean's arrival, captures the first-ever human footsteps on the Moon's Ocean of Storms.
As he stepped onto the lunar surface, Conrad famously quipped: "Whoopie! Man, that may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me."
