Beschreibung eines neuen Geschlechts von einer sehr raren und überaus schönen afrikanischen Pflanze aus der Familie der Zwiebelgewächse, first German edition, large engraved allegorical vignette on A2, 3 hand-coloured engraved botanical plates (one with blind-stamp in blank area), contemporary marbled paper over boards, spine neatly repaired retaining original gilt morocco spine label, preserved in morocco-backed solander box by James Brockman [cf. Pritzel 3922; Stafleu TL2 2593], folio (510 x 355mm.), Brunswick, Waysenhause, 1755

Scarce first German edition of Heister's celebration of a new species of African lily, first published in Latin in 1753. The author was the Director of the Helmstadt botanic gardens.
