Darton, J. Sowerby and others after Sydenham Edwards, Will Kilburn and J. Sowerby, dedication leaf to John Coakley Lettsom in volume 2, additional engraved portrait of the author bound as frontispiece in volume 1, without dedication in volume 1 and list of subscribers, some toning, light off-setting and occasional spots (most to text), early ink numeral in corner of each plate (some within platemark) of volume 1 and the first 40 plates of volume 2, additional ink numerals added to some of the indexes, contemporary calf, rebacked preserving original spines, very worn, covers detached, some loss to ends of spines [Great Flower Books, p.54; Henrey III, 595; Hunt 650; Nissen BBI 439], folio (472 x 285mm.), Printed for and Sold by the Author, 1777-1798
