FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. This work covers De Filippi's great scientific expedition to the Eastern Karokoram and Chinese Turkestan. The expedition started in Bombay in August of 1913, and carried out extensive geological, geophysical, ethnographic and biological researches on the Central Asian plateau. It includes chapters penned by the famous mountaineers G. Dainelli and J.A. Spranger and which provide a remarkable overview of this area. Due to the Great War, the results of the expedition's researches were eventually published in Italian between 1922 and 1935.
