Keep the Aspidistra Flying, FIRST EDITION, half-title, publisher's blue cloth, light soiling, yellow DUST-JACKET with geometric motif in pink on upper cover and "7/6 net" on spine (soiled, flap joints repaired, losses to extremities of spine with "Keep the", small section of "Aspidistra", and publisher's name and logo all neatly replaced in ink facsimile) [Fenwick A.4a], 8vo, Victor Gollancz, 1936

RARE DUST-JACKETED FIRST EDITION OF ORWELL'S THIRD NOVEL, based on the author's own experience working in a bookshop and living cheaply in Hampstead bohemia. Of 3000 copies published 2256 copies were sold, the majority of the remainder being destroyed by German bombing in March 1942.
