Footnotes
Utopia (from the Greek ou topos, meaning 'no place'), as it is more commonly named, is Thomas More's best-known work. The first edition, edited by Erasmus, was published in Leuven in 1516. It was then followed by a second edition in Paris the following year, which was embellished with supportive letters between leading humanists to whom Erasmus had sent copies of the manuscript.
