Mother, George and I go to David Bromley's garden
signed with fly insignia (lower right); further signed and inscribed 'George & I and Grandma (+ Gyp + Barney) have/gone to David Bromley's Garden to/buy some sprouts, but before he/would serve us we always had to/listen to him telling us about the/mill chimneys which he considered/unsafe and how he just longed/to get them down. He was a puller/down of mill chimneys when he wasn't/growing things in his garden and the/year was 1906./Helen Layfield Bradley' (on an artist's label attached verso)
