Footnotes
Sybil Andrews is well known for her expertise in linocuts but she was also a skilful etcher. An early part of her artistic training was undertaken by her mentor and later collaborator Cyril Power who, being an architect, instructed her in architectural drawing. This honed her skills in depicting architectural details and perspective, clearly evident in this image.
London's Cannon Street Railway Bridge was opened in 1866 and spans the Thames between Southwark and London Bridges.
