Footnotes

A charger depicting Queen Anne standing in a similar setting of sponged trees and tufted grass was sold by Bonhams on 15 December 2020, lot 33. This distinctive setting is found on portraits of the Dukes of Marlborough and Ormonde, Prince Eugene and Kings George I and II. A related fragment excavated by Garner at Lambeth is the basis for the attribution to Norfolk House. A very similar charger depicting Queen Anne is in the Victoria & Albert Museum, illustrated by Michael Archer, Delftware (1997), p.80, A.12.
