A West Country slipware puzzle jug, dated 1796

Of globular shape with a generous tubular handle, the rim with a small spout, the neck pierced with elongated holes alternating with circles, sgraffito decorated with bands of zigzags and scrolls embellished with dotted ornamentation, inscribed 'This Jug I made to try your Wit If you The Licqer out Can Geet 1796' between, with a distinctive honey-coloured glaze mottled in green, 15.8cm high
