The colour palette and particularly the bright yellow centres to some of the flowers occur on other pieces of this 'drab' or 'mushroom' class, which link 'A' marked porcelain to Bow's output from 1749-50 onwards.

The leaf-capped flying scroll handle is derived from contemporary silver, an example with hoof feet by John Pollock hallmarked London 1750 was sold by Bonhams on 6 June 2006, lot 429. Nicholas Panes illustrates two related Bow examples in British Porcelain Sauceboats of the 18th century (2009), pp.66-67, figs.94-97.
