A Bow sugar bowl and cover, circa 1752-55

Of flared form, the low domed cover with a large acorn finial, applied with three crisp prunus sprays, left in the white, 11cm high (2)

A similar sugar bowl and cover but of ogee form, also with an acorn finial is illustrated by Elizabeth Adams and David Redstone, Bow Porcelain (1981), fig.38, where it is referred to as a pomade pot. The ogee-shaped example is marked with an incised 'R' and would appear to marginally predate the present lot.
