Footnotes

Provenance
Hutton Collection

'Fetid Pills' and 'Pills of Rudius' are listed separately in The London Dispensatory, published in 1694. The label on the present lot would suggest the contents pilulae foetidae rudii, was a concoction formed of both medicines. See lot 104 in this sale, also from the Hutton Collection for a slightly earlier pill jar for 'Fetid Pills'.
