Among Mahonri Mackintosh Young's small bronzes, Elephant Bookends was one of the most commercially successful for the artist. Young's small bronzes were typically limited to editions of 15 and in some instances, fewer were cast. Gorham Company Founders cast a total of 108 pairs of Elephant Bookends between 1914 and 1948.
