'The movement starts at the top, with a large, upright block, and progresses in a serpentine descent through the less stable, tumbling, blocks to the smallest at the bottom. But the progression from large to small is not regular and the angles of the blocks and the spaces between them vary so that while some touch, others float as isolated units.' (A. Grieve, The Sculpture of Robert Adams, The Henry Moore Foundation, in association with Lund Humphries, Much Hadham and Aldershot, 1992, p. 61)
