Dey was a trailblazing artist, renowned for pioneering the art of dry-point etching in India. Educated at Rabindranath Tagore's School in Santiniketan and trained under Abanindranath Tagore at the Indian School of Oriental Art, Dey was India's first professionally trained printmaker. His groundbreaking contributions helped redefine the country's artistic identity. In 1916, he accompanied Rabindranath Tagore to Japan to study Japanese painting, later making history as the first Indian elected to the Chicago Society of Etchers. Continuing his artistic journey in London, he honed his skills at the Slade School of Fine Art and the Royal College of Art, leaving an enduring legacy as a visionary artist.
