Ahmed is a contemporary miniature artist who received his degree in Miniature Painting from the National College of Arts in Lahore in 2004. He has exhibited his work extensively across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Working with gouache on wasli, traditional handmade paper, Ahmed's practice blends historical and contemporary themes.
Ahmed masterfully juxtaposes classic Mughal iconography with modern, symbolic imagery such as dices and skulls, creating works with powerful ideologic subtexts. His works often contain powerful political commentary, with this piece, Untitled (Noble Portrait), serving as a key example. Here, the overlay of a mousetrap drawing on a noble's profile visually demonstrates the deceptive and insidious nature of prominence.
