Alan Martin Gard (1935-2025) is hailed as one of the great British jewellers of the mid-20th century, forming his own workshop in 1964 at the age of 29. Working alongside other esteemed jewellers of the period including names such as John Donald and Gilian Packard, together they were at the forefront of disrupting the rigidity of conventional design prescribed by the earlier half of the century. Gard has had many successful solo exhibitions spanning his career both in London and America and remains a prominent name amongst jewellery collectors and designers alike.
