Walter Schluep (1931–2016) established his workshop in Montreal in the 1950's. He is celebrated for sculptural jewellery, experimenting with abstract shapes and multi-media work. He exhibited in the Canadian Pavilion at the 1967 International and Universal Exposition, and currently a collection of his pieces are being exhibited in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. In addition to his jewellery, he was the designer of the 1979 Canadian dollar. Schluep is regarded as an influential avant-garde artist within Montreal's art community, but his influence extends internationally.
