Footnotes

Wendy Ramshaw was a pioneering British jeweller for her innovative approach to jewellery design. Her iconic ring sets, which redefined the perception of jewellery as sculptural art, are held in over 70 public museum and gallery collections worldwide.

"The ring is the most intimate and personal form of jewellery, which is enjoyed by both the wearer and observer."
— Wendy Ramshaw, In Conversation: Master Craftsman, c. 1985, Chris Walton

Ramshaw's concept of the ring set as both wearable art and an object for display was groundbreaking. Each set is presented on a specially designed stand, which can be unscrewed to release the individual rings—transforming the piece from sculpture to adornment.
