Footnotes

Andrew Grima's 1971 'Rock Revival' jewellery collection and accompanying exhibition was a daring departure from traditional jewellery design. The collection was a risk; it showcased materials of little intrinsic value including rocks, minerals and raw crystals like this necklace. Grima's designs transcended the ordinary and embraced nature and the abstract. This avant-garde 'fashion jewellery' perfectly captured the glam-rock, androgynous zeitgeist of the early 1970s.
