CARTIER: DIAMOND DRESS WATCH, CIRCA 1920

The rectangular dial with Roman numerals and blue steel hands, the bezel set with baguette and single-cut diamonds, case with rose-cut diamond crown, between old brilliant and single-cut diamond lugs of Persian inspiration edged with black enamel, each centrally-set with a demi-lune-cut diamond, on a mesh bracelet strap with deployant clasp, mounted in platinum and gold, dial signed Cartier, numbered 24969 . 361 . 15363, partial maker's mark, French assay marks, diamonds approximately 3.00 carats total, enamel loss, inner circumference approximately 17.0cm

This diamond dress watch by Cartier was a bequest to Lady Anne from her mother-in-law, Lady Pamela Winefred Tennant née Paget. Lady Pamela was the daughter of Sir Richard Arthur Surtees Paget, 2nd Baronet. She married Christopher Tennant, 2nd Baron Glenconner in 1925. This watch was given to Lady Pamela as a wedding present by her future husband, Christopher Tennant.
