Nancy Lancaster was the owner of the influential British interior design firm, Colefax & Fowler. From a notable US family, Nancy's maternal aunts were Nancy, Viscountess Astor (1879-1964) – Britain's first sitting female MP, and Irene Gibson – wife of the illustrator, Charles Dana Gibson, who created the beloved 'Gibson Girl' image, which epitomised beauty standards during America's Gilded Age.
