This brooch originally belonged to Lady Glenconner's maternal grandmother, the Countess of Hardwicke before passing to her mother, Elizabeth Coke, Countess of Leicester. Born Lady Elisabeth Yorke, the 5th Countess of Leicester served as Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth II and in 1965, she was made Commander of the Royal Victorian Order DCVO in recognition of her services.
