Meister was founded Zurich in 1881 by Emil Meister. The company has built up a reputation for supplying high quality coloured gemstones and superb craftsmanship. Today the company is run by fourth generation family member Adrian Meister.

The re-birth of jewellery design in the post-war years was led by the likes of Andrew Grima, with the style subsequently spreading throughout Europe. These sapphire and diamond earclips are typical of 1960's and 70's jewellery design; the striking avant-garde forms use a combination of different textures and bold forms, reflecting a period of remarkable innovation that mirrored the cultural shifts of the time.
