The single strand of graduating 3.8mm - 8.1mm natural pearls, on an old brilliant-cut diamond clasp, with foliate and millegrain detail, length 43.5cm

Property from the Gourlay Family Collection and thence by descent

Adeline Gourlay married William Robert Gourlay MA, ICS (1874-1938) in 1901. William was educated at Glasgow University and Jesus College, Cambridge before joining the Indian Civil Service in 1877. He served as Private Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Bengal between 1904-1905. When Adeline and William were not based in Calcutta they resided at Cameron House, Loch Lomond and then at Kenbank, St John's Town of Dalry, Scotland.

Accompanied by a report from the Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating that 66 of the pearls are natural saltwater. Report number 18699, dated 10th July 2020.
