Lupin the Third is a highly popular Japanese manga and anime series that has been capturing the hearts of fans since 1967. Centred on the character of Lupin III, it follows the charismatic master thief in his travels across the globe whilst searching for the ultimate heist. From humble beginnings, Lupin the Third has since seen three live action movies, eleven anime movies and is now approaching its 60th anniversary.
In 2019 Zenith became the first manufacture to incorporate manga within a watch with what was to become their Lupin the Third collection. The current lot is the third and final piece from this collaboration and unites the previous editions by presenting a playful dial with the designs of both earlier renditions split in two. The connection between the two worlds might at first seem unconventional, however for those eagle-eyed who have studied and followed the hit series from the beginning they will know that Lupins right hand man, Daisuke Jigen, is seen wearing a Zenith Chronomaster A384 from the first episode. Recreating the unique colour version that manga creator Kazuhiko Katō used therefore not only seemed natural but inevitable for Zenith.
Limited to just 250 pieces, this is a really fun timepiece that celebrates the art and world of manga whilst presenting a highly wearable timepiece.
