Footnotes

The Reference 5711 was first introduced in 2006 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Nautilus, featuring a slightly larger case size than the original model Reference 3700. Appreciated from the offset it came as a huge surprise to the collecting world when Patek Philippe announced the reference was to be discontinued in 2021. After much speculation its successor was revealed at Watches and Wonders in Geneva a few months later bearing many of the same beloved elements but now sporting a rich olive green dial and with the reference 5711/1A-014.

Ever since Gerald Genta designed the first Nautilus in 1976 there had never been a green dial option before and, with all the hype and debate over what was behind this business decision, the response to the model was one of intrigue and excitement. The olive green Nautilus was only in production for one year and marked the end of the 5711 line before the official switch to the reference 5811 was made. As such the olive dial 5711 has become one of the most sought-after Patek Philippe models, with demand and prices soaring due to its rarity and position within the history of the model. The current lot presents a fantastic opportunity to acquire one of the most hunted for timepieces in the watch world.
