When Rolex unveiled the GMT-Master II reference 126720VTNR at Watches & Wonders 2022, it immediately captured the attention of collectors and enthusiasts alike. Nicknamed the "Sprite," the watch pairs a vivid green-and-black Cerachrom bezel with an unexpected left-handed configuration, positioning the crown and date aperture at 9 o'clock.
Reversing the traditional design required far more than simply flipping the layout. Rolex's engineers had to rework the movement so that the left-handed configuration met the same high standards of the original. Every adjustment was made with purpose, ensuring the mirrored design feels balanced, natural, and unmistakably Rolex. The result is a watch that maintains the symmetry and smooth functionality that define the GMT-Master II, while introducing a subtle but significant evolution to the watch.
