Footnotes

Until 1974 Cartier London employed in-house case-makers to manufacture watch cases by hand; due to the unique characteristics of hand made items the watch had to be produced by an atelier workshop method where a case would be made to fit a movement, then the dial made to fit the case; finally a hand-cut crystal outsourced to fit the dial and case. Cartier London was the last of the Paris, London and New York locations to retain their own workshops and examples manufactured during this period are some of the finest and most desirable such as the Crash, Maxi Oval and London Baignoires.
