Footnotes

Provenance
Private sale, Hampel, December 2018, where acquired by the present owner

Prof. Giancarlo Sestieri confirmed the attribution to Codazzi and suggested they date to his mature period (private communication, dated 7 January 2019).
The figures are likely to be a different hand, possibly Micco Spadaro (1609-1675).
