Also known as 'New Century Magazine', Xinshiji was a revolutionary anarchist journal published by Chinese exiles in Paris between 1907 and 1910. It played a crucial role in spreading anarchist ideas among Chinese intellectuals and students during the late Qing Dynasty. Unlike other reformist or nationalist publications of the time, Xinshiji emphasized radical social change, promoting ideals such as individual freedom, equality, and anti-authoritarianism. It also engaged with global anarchist thought, translating Western anarchist texts and advocating for a stateless, classless society. The journal's significance lies in its influence on early Chinese radicalism and its contribution to the broader dialogue on political modernity in China. Original copies of the magazine are rare.
