A late 19th century French grande-sonnerie gorge case carriage clock
The case surmounted by a brass carrying handle over a bevelled observation panel set within a moulded top, the shaped sides fitted with glazed panels and raised on a moulded base, the underside with a three-position lever for Grande Sonnerie – Petite Sonnerie – Silence. The 2 inch rectangular white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, with subsidiary Arabic alarm-setting dial below, all framed within a finely cast gilt mask. The twin-train movement with lever platform escapement and alarm train mounted to the upper left, the backplate numbered 9858. 10.5cm high.
