A mid 18th century ebonised two-tune musical and quarter chiming table clock playing a March and an Air on 8 bells and hammers

The case with three foliate urn finials (fourth and upper one missing) over canted front angles set with term mounts, the brass side sound frets centred by a cherub mask within rays on a moulded base and brass ogee bracket feet. The 19.5cm (7.75ins) arched brass dial with tune selection subsidiary offering the choice of MARCH or AIR, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with concentric date 1-31, finely matted centre with shaped recessed signature plaque and concentric date. The substantial triple gut (now wire) fusee movement with verge escapement striking the hours on a bell and one of the two tunes on a run of eight bells and hammers, secured in the case via two L-shaped engraved brass L-shaped brackets. Ticking but in need of a service. Quarter striking, music playing. 51cm high.
