A good late 17th/early 18th century gilt brass-mounted tortoiseshell quarter repeating mantel timepiece

the removable caddy top with five finials and a cast balustrade over long rectangular glazed side panels on a cast brass base with cast feet. The 11.5cm (4.5ins) rectangular cast dial with twelve applied blue enamel Roman numerals in shaped cartouches, signed on an enamel plaque below VI with pendulum-impulse aperture between. The single spring barrel movement united by four tapering pillars pinned through the backplate, with tic-tac escapement and silk suspended pendulum, signed in a flowing script along the bottom edge of the backplate, repeating the hours and quarters on demand by pulling a cord to activate three hammers and bells set into the caddy above. With key.
