The plate decorated in cobalt blue with figures in a Chinese landscape, the armorial at 12 o'clock, the underside rim with two bands of stylised radiating patterns, 57.5cm diam., (covered in spray)

The continuous landscape scene extending across the entire surface of the plate reflects the ambition of artists at Nevers, who tried to closely approximate Chinese blue-and-white wares imported into Europe during the 17th century.
