An impressive mid 18th century French quarter-repeating inlaid brass bracket clock and bracket

Malardot à Dijon

The waisted case surmounted by a bird within a foliate cresting over applied scroll acanthus mounts, raised on scrolling feet, the whole decorated with running foliage and flowers picked out in coloured wax, horn and mother-of-pearl, to a matching bracket. The white enamel Roman and Arabic dial signed Malardot à Dijon, with pierced and gilt hands (hour tip repaired, some old repair to the edge and crazing). The twin spring barrel movement with four pinned pillars and verge escapement with rack strike mounted on the backplate, repeating the quarters via a cord to the left hand side on three stacked bells in the caddy.
