A Meissen Böttger stoneware figure of a standing girl, circa 1929-1933


Modelled by Paul Scheurich, with her right hand on her hip, lightly polished on a circular base, incised signature 'P. Scheurich' on the back of the base, 35.8cm high, impressed crossed swords mark with dot between the sword tips and 'BOTTGER/ STEINZEUG', incised model number A.1214, incised L230, impressed former's number 131

Footnotes

The plaster model of this figure was completed by 1917 (when it was published in the journal 'Kunst'). Scheurich only offered it to the manufactory in 1929; it was purchased on 3 May for RM 1,000 and immediately produced in stoneware (Johannes Rafael, Paul Scheurich 1883-1945 Porzellane für die Meissener Manufaktur, Meissener Manuskripte, Sonderband VIII, 1995, no. 9).
