Probably the "Löwin" listed in Kaendler's work reports for overtime in February and March 1741, as well as in the Taxa: "1. Löwin halb liegend und halb sizend, gegen den Löwen sehend" [a lioness, half laying and half seated, looking to the lion]. The corresponding group of the lion is listed by Kaendler in January 1741; see R. Rückert, Meissener Porzellan 1710-1810, 1966, nos. 1058 and 1059, for examples of both models in the Dr. Ernst Schneider Collection. Numerous models of lions, painted and unpainted and in various sizes, are recorded in the inventories of the court pantries in Dresden, Warsaw and the royal/electoral hunting palace Hubertusburg.
