A Meissen group of the drunken Silenus, circa 1760


Modelled by Friedrich Elias Meyer, slumped riding on a donkey, both crowned with fruiting vines, supported by a figure standing to his left holding a stick and clad in purple-lined turquoise drapery, a putto wreathed in fruiting vines at their feet, the base modelled with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with vine leaves, 19cm high; 17cm across, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue (very minor restoration and chips)
