Grande figure en porcelaine blanche de Hutschenreuther représentant une naïade, deuxième moitié XXe siècle

A large Hutschenreuther white figure of a naiad, second half 20th century

Footnotes

When Max Adolf Pfeiffer was dismissed as director of the Meissen manufactory on 20 May 1933 the official opprobrium extended to Paul Scheurich, whose works were now judged to be "outmoded". Several models already purchased by the manufactory were only produced once Wolfgang Müller von Baczko became director on 1 November 1936. Pfeiffer was appointed artistic and technical advisor to the Hutschenreuter manufactory in Selb in 1934; between 1936 and 1938 the manufactory produced four models by Scheurich, including the reclining naiad of 1936.

Two other examples were in the collection of Prof. J. Rafael, sold in these rooms, 14 April 2022, lots 111 and 112.
