The model was completed in 1932 and delivered to the Meissen manufactory at the end of April 1933, which purchased it for RM 2,500. After the departure of Max Adolf Pfeiffer that same year, the production of the group was halted on grounds of "decency," prompting a dispute with Scheurich that remained unresolved until Wolfgang Müller von Baczko assumed directorship in late 1936. Under his leadership, the falling rider group was no longer deemed indecent, but instead hailed as "completely first-rate" [,,ganz ausgezeichnet"]. It was produced in porcelain from the beginning of 1937 and was among the models by Scheurich awarded the Grand Prix at the Paris World Exhibition of 1937. The first sales were in 1937 and, by the end of 1945, a total of 17 examples were sold.
Another example was in the collection of Prof. J. Rafael, sold in these rooms, 14 April 2022, lot 109.
