Très rare figure en porcelaine blanche de Meissen représentant une allégorie du Printemps ou Flore, 1996

Modelled by Paul Scheurich, standing by a tree-stump with flowers and holding flowers in her right hand, the oval base moulded with flowers and a recessed rim, incised signature "Scheurich/ 32" to one side, 59cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to back of base, incised crossed swords mark above "Weiss" to underside of base, model number 79538 and date letter for 1996,

Footnotes

The figure was modelled in 1931, delivered to the manufactory at the end of April 1932 and purchased for RM 2,500. It was not produced in porcelain, initially because of the difficult economic situation and subsequently because Scheurich's relationship with the manufactory soured following the departure of Pfeiffer. In 1937, Wolfgang Müller von Baczko asked Scheurich to rework the figure and it was produced in porcelain in time for the Leipzig Autumn Fair in 1937. Only one sale in 1942 is recorded.

An unfired biscuit version from 1994 was in the collection of Prof. J. Rafael, sold in these rooms, 14 April 2022, lot 101.
