Figure en porcelaine blanche représentant une femme debout, Meissen, circa 1930-34

Modelled by Paul Scheurich, a cloth draped around her shoulders and hip, on a flat rockwork base, 35.8cm high, crossed swords mark with dot between the tips in underglaze-blue, impressed crossed swords mark with a dot between the tips and 'weiss' to rear and underside, incised model number A.1206, impressed Bossierer's number 50

Footnotes

The model for the standing woman was sold by Käthe Scheurich to the Meissen manufactory in December 1927 along with the large bust of Scheurich's sister, Louise (see following lot), and the large version of the seated hunter. Due to illness, Scheurich had been unable to work for more than four years, and the price paid by the manufactory (RM 3,000 for the bust and RM 1,500 for the standing woman) are evidence of Max Adolf Pfeiffer's kindness; the profit from the sales of these models did not cover the acquisition costs (Johannes Rafael, Paul Scheurich 1883-1945 Porzellane für die Meissener Manufaktur, Meissener Manuskripte, Sonderband VIII, 1995, no. 33).
