Modelled by Paul Scheurich in the form of a chinoiserie figure with a long pigtail at the rear, the head and shoulders forming the cover, wearing a green-lined tunic subtly shaded in yellow, the edges of the collar and the hat shaded in yellow, 12cm high, crossed swords mark with dot between the sword tips in underglaze-blue to base, incised model number A. 1141, incised former's number 111, (finger restored) (2)

The model for this tea canister and its cover was completed shortly before Paul Scheurich fell ill in August 1923. In the difficult years that followed, with Scheurich unable to work and income scarce, his wife Käthe was compelled to sell several pieces from his studio to the Meissen manufactory. Among them was this tea canister, acquired by the factory in 1926.
Due to the prolonged nature of Scheurich's illness, the manufactory decided on the decoration itself. The first finished example was sold in June 1927, with a further eleven sold by 1931 (Rafael 1995, no. 25).
