These dishes known as noppenbordjes were produced in the period around 1590 to 1625 and were inspired by metalware, see Dr. Pieter Biesboer, Nederlandse Majolica 1550-1650, 1997, pp.32-35, nos. 22-27. Similar dishes of this rare type are illustrated in Frits Scholten, Dutch Majolica & Delftware (1550-1700) from the Edwin van Drecht Collection, 1993, pp.16-19, nos. 13-16.
