The present lot was executed during or immediately following a visit to Israel by the artist in 1968, after the conclusion of The Six Day War, which took place from 5-10 June 1967. The work is thought to be based on a photograph taken by Riley, which depicts a father and son leaving The Western Wall in Jerusalem, and was published by The Guardian on 4 May 1968.
